British jails gradually filling up with Muslims – Another scumbag in the clink !

A HIT-and-run driver who knocked down and killed a Blackburn grandmother outside her home has today been jailed for nine years.

Salim Chand, 25, had admitted causing the death of Freda Holt by dangerous driving.

Chand, whose address was given in court as Iddesleigh Road, Preston, also pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis in relation to a drugs deal in May, six months before the crash.

Today at Preston Crown Court he was jailed for eight years for the driving charge and a year for the drugs offence.

Mrs Holt, 70, was hit ‘at high speed’ in Revidge Road, Blackburn, on the morning on November 8.

She was taken through to Royal Blackburn Hospital but died from her injuries.

Mrs Holt, a yoga teacher and church volunteer, left husband Ray, three children, Richard, Rachel and Benedict, and six grandchildren.

Detective Inspector Brian King said: “I hope that the conclusion of these proceedings will go some way to allowing Freda’s family to move forward with their lives.

“Chand’s actions that day led to the death of a woman who had so much to live for.

“His actions have left a family without a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

“This case highlights the stupidity of reckless speeding, which played a huge part in this tragic incident.

“The terrible consequences of this collision should serve as a strong warning to people not to do this.

“Lancashire Constabulary will not tolerate this type of behaviour on the county’s roads and we are determined to bring those people who choose to drive in such an irresponsible manner to justice.”

Freda’s daughter Rachel said: “Freda was the backbone of our family, a loving wife, mother and grandma, a generous, caring and proud person, with a strong faith.

“She was always wiling to help and support and was tremendously proud of all the children’s achievements.

“She looked for the good in everyone was forgiving and respected in all the communities she encountered.

“This tragedy has left a massive hole in our family, our lynchpin has been ripped out.

“Although it is hard, we will stay strong as a family and take strength from our own faith – we know she will always be with us.”
